Promotions to Intermediate

To my lovely morning class,

I had a conversation with my manager, Thorsten, and I’ve decided not to promote anyone from D1 to intermediate.  This is because I don’t feel like any of you are ready for it.  In our class there are two types of students:

1) Those great at grammar but not so good with speaking;

2) Those terrific at speaking but less able to use grammar correctly.

I want to see you guys using grammar correctly and speaking well at the same time.  You know what your weaknesses are and I have given you lots of advice about how to fix them.  You can’t move just because of grammar or speaking; you must have both.  Trust me  :)   I’m the best teacher at Ability, and if you follow my advice and help yourself  then you will move faster, like Xiong.

Have a good Tuesday,

Haydn.

Excursion this Friday and Boat Cruise

Hi everyone,

Here are this Friday’s excursion options:

1) Go to the Powerhouse Museum with Andrew.  This costs $5, but if you want to see the Princess Diana exhibition you’ll need to pay more money.  Leave at 1:40pm;

2) Join Elaine for lunch at a cheap restaurant (probably in Chinatown).  Meet at the reception area at 1pm and go from there.  Leave at 1:40pm;

3) Join Edward for a musical pronunciation class.  This is at school;

4) Go with Haydn to a bookshop (maybe a library) to find good books and audiobooks to read by yourself.  It’s very difficult to find good novels to read and listen to for self-study.  However I can show you what’s good and what’s not as good.  Bring some money for a bus and we’ll leave at 1:40pm.

Remember everyone in my morning class- tomorrow is Lubo’s last day so please bring some food or a drink.  Alcohol is okay.

Tomorrow in class I’m going to give you all tickets for the school’s boat cruise on Thursday the 13th of March.  It’s very important that you get a ticket from me because you can’t go on the cruise without one.  If you’re younger than 18 you must see Gemma because you can’t go on the cruise.

See you tomorrow all happy and relaxed :) ;)

Haydn.

PS – Please find an article for your speaking test and give it to me by Friday.  You can give it to me in class or- if you find something on the Internet- you can email me.

Welcome!

To the new students in my morning class – WELCOME!  :) :) :) :) :) It’s great to have you all with us.  Our new students include:

 See Won from South Korea, Zhi Yong from China, Satoshi from Japan, and Larissa Martins from Brazil.

I also want to say that you are always welcome to speak to me about any problem you have, even something personal.  This might sound crazy, but I really care about you all so if you need to speak to me about anything, I am happy to listen to you :)

Also, if you want to me to check or edit anything that you’ve written (like CVs, emails, diaries, or letters) you can email me at haydnenglish@yahoo.com.  Renato emailed me his resume today and everyone can do the same thing

I’ll post another message on this site soon.  VERY NICE!

Next Week

Hi everyone, the excursion today was fantastic!  I definately had a good time :)

Either tomorrow or Sunday I’ll post on this site a summary of next week’s grammar.  If you read these notes on the weekend with the chapter, they will help you a lot.

Have a good weekend everyone!

PS – Pepe, Jiw, Ju Yong, Lubo, and First you were really missed today.  You all  should have come on the excursion.
